      <abstract>
        <p>Simple, sensitive and accurate spectrophotometric method was proposed for the micro determination of molybdate(MoO42-) using Tannic acid as a reagent. The method was based on the formation of 1:2 orange colored complex between the anion and TA. The optimum conditions for the determination were established. The Beer’s law was applicable in the range of 0.2-5.0 µg/cm3. The method detection limit, limit of quantification, molar absorptivity, Sandell’s sensitivity, coefficient of correlation (β) were reported. The method is free from common interferences. The method was successfully applied for the determination of Mo (VI) in environmental water samples and pharmaceutical products.</p>
