      <abstract>
        <p>An easy solvent-free synthesis of pyrimidine derivatives from aldehydes, aceto acetanilide and urea/thiourea by using fluorspar mineral as catalyst has been described under microwave irradiation. The salient features of this one-pot protocol are short reaction times (4-5 min), excellent yields, cleaner reaction profiles and simple work-up. Also, the catalyst can be reused without any reduction in efficiency.</p>
