with Gayatri Khosla, Vikram Sharma, Neeraj Kumar, Rama Tyagi
10/2/2026
pp. 66-87

This review provides an in-depth exploration of Cannabidiol (CBD), a substance originating from the Cannabis species with noteworthy therapeutic potential. It comprehensively covers CBD's botanical origins, diverse extraction methodologies, and the emerging significance of nanoformulations in addressing a wide spectrum of health conditions, including pain, inflammation, anxiety, depression, and neurological disorders. The section on botanical origins delves into the sources of CBD within the Cannabis plant, highlighting the chemical variations among different strains and the Biosynthesis of the cannabidiol in cannabis sativa. The historical significance of CBD is elucidated, offering insights into its traditional uses across various cultures and historical contexts. The review paper extensively discusses various extraction techniques employed for CBD isolation, presenting a comparative analysis of their efficacy, safety, and environmental implications. Special attention is devoted to advanced extraction methodologies designed to optimize CBD yield while minimizing the content of psychoactive constituents, such as THC (delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol). Additionally, this paper emphasizes the burgeoning domain of CBD nanoformulations, elucidating how nanotechnology augments CBD's bioavailability, stability, and targeted delivery. This advancement in drug delivery systems enhances CBD's therapeutic potential in the management of pain, inflammation, anxiety, depression, and neurological disorders. By offering information ranging from CBD's botanical origins to cutting-edge nanoformulations, this review paper is an invaluable resource for researchers, healthcare professionals, and policymakers. This review aims to deliver a succinct overview of the pharmacological, extraction technologies, phytochemical, botanical and ethnopharmacological regarding Cannabidiol. Keywords: Cannabidiol (CBD), Cannabis Sativa, Extraction Methods, Therapeutic effect.

Development of Quality Standards of Majoon-e-Aradkhurma-A Polyherbal Unani Formulation

with Mohd Mujeeb, Salma B, AftabAhmad, Khalid Mehmood Siddique, Shakir Jamil
2/1/2013
pp. 1-9

Traditional healing through herbs have been the experienced of many countries since ages, as they were generally whispered to be non toxic natural products. Contemporary medicine is more concern for the cure of diseases but remnants indifferent to health conservation. There is an urgent need to combine the best elements of traditional medicine and modern medicine to improve the health care system of human kind. For the reason that of the rapid progress of herbal drug an increasing need is felt to standardize the herbal products. It is needed to develop the scientific protocols such as SOP and pharmacopoeial standards of the poly herbal drug Majoon-a- Aaradkhurma. Majoon-e-aradkhurma is traditionally used to controls spermatorrhoea and nocturnal emissions and it increases the density of semen and sperm count. The pharmacognostical evaluation comprises of phytochemical screening, physical constants such as ash values, extractive values, heavy metal, pesticide residue and aflatoxin analysis. Study revealed that heavy metals such as lead, cadmium, mercury and arsenic were not detected in the drug. Pesticide residues and aflatoxin were also absent in the drug. The data evolved in the present work help to fix the scientific standards for Majoon-a- Aaradkhurma.
